Many people carry them for yearssometimes without fully understanding what is happeningwhile these symptoms quietly and persistently affect their relationshipsphysical healthcareersand overall quality of life. What also surprises me — in a positive way — is how treatable these difficulties actually are. We already have well-establishedevidence-based approaches that can significantly reduceand in some cases even eliminatethese symptoms. There is no need to reinvent the wheel: we know what worksand we know how to help people regain a sense of control over themselves and their lives. What’s needed is the consistent use of these approacheswider sharing of psychological knowledgeand making therapy more accessible to the people who need it.
